The images, which looked like screenshots from a TV show, were later posted on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging platform. The performance is considered part of this year's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Day, also known as Army Day (August 1).

The U.S. Navy's Zumwalt-class stealth destroyer. has a total of 80 units, which is larger than the Chinese Type 055, but also has a lower missile launch capability than the Type 055.
