Type 055 Cruiser - An aerial view of China's 'most advanced' warship - the Type 055 Nanchang - has surfaced online amid Taiwan tensions
Visit of the Speaker of the U.S. House Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan angered China, which responded by deploying large numbers of troops for exercises near the island. Amid the tensions, several high-resolution images of China's most advanced weapons, including the Type 055 destroyer, have recently surfaced on social media.

Many detailed high-resolution images of the People's Liberation Navy's Type 055 destroyer Nanchang 101 have appeared online. The Type 055 destroyer is the most advanced surface ship ever produced by Beijing.

These images provide an overview of the ship's features in a highly descriptive manner. The warship is reportedly taking part in the latest round of exercises targeting Taiwan in response to Pelosi's visit.

The images, which looked like screenshots from a TV show, were later posted on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging platform. The performance is considered part of this year's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Day, also known as Army Day (August 1).
Eurasia Info previously reported that Chinese state media released several videos on August 1, including one containing footage of the Type 055 destroyer to demonstrate Beijing's military prowess.

The location of the associated image is unknown. However, the ship is believed to be docked at its home port of Qingdao in China's northeastern Shandong province.
Meanwhile, China's military activities in the region have grown significantly following Nancy Pelosi's visit to the island. The presence of senior U.S. officials. in Taiwan is seen by China as U.S. support. against Taiwan's independence from China.
Beijing insists that Taiwan has always been a Chinese territory and has never recognized it as a separate political entity.
Taiwan claims it is neither part of the People's Republic of China, which was created after the communist revolution, nor part of the modern nation of China, which was created only after the 1911 revolution.

Since the 1970s, the United States has implemented the "one China" policy and recognizes Taiwan as part of China. However, it maintains informal relations with Taiwan, a strategic or deliberate ambiguity tactic.
Regardless, the images provide a very clear view of many important aspects of the ship. The ship is the first to be commissioned and put into service in 2020. A total of 16 such ships are reportedly planned, with at least six already completed.

The U.S. Navy's Zumwalt-class stealth destroyer. has a total of 80 units, which is larger than the Chinese Type 055, but also has a lower missile launch capability than the Type 055.
The system is said to be capable of launching at least HQ-16 and HQ-9 surface-to-air missiles, YJ-18 and CJ-10 series surface-to-air and anti-ship missiles, Yu-8 rocket-assisted torpedoes, and missiles guided anti-ship cruise missile YJ-83.
One of the battery cells of the Chinese warship is also said to be capable of firing DK-10 surface-to-air missiles. This particular missile was designed and developed for export purposes, but apparently was not accepted by the PLA.
An 11-tube 30mm H/PJ-11 Close Combat Weapon System (CIWS) is mounted forward of the main superstructure, and the ship is also armed with a 130mm H/PJ-38 naval gun in the bow turret.

24 HQ-10 surface-to-air missile launchers are mounted on top of the ship's helicopter hangar. The hangar was built primarily for the Harbin Z-9, but may also be suitable for the Chinese Navy's new Z-20F. The images also provide some information about the ship's response.
The four Nanchang Series 726 defensive launchers, two of which are located on either side of the rear of the superstructure, can be seen in the top-down picture of the ship.
In clear focus, the view of several box antennas installed on the edge of the Nanchang Bridge is perhaps the most interesting. Experts speculate that this element of the Type 055 design could be an important part of the ship's electronic warfare (EW) suite.
However, there is no evidence to support this contention. However, one thing it seems to lack is a large over-the-horizon communications dome compared to its overseas counterpart.

Given the state-of-the-art nature of the ships, this class of ships is a shining example of China's efforts to improve its capabilities in recent years. The warship has not faced any combat situations, so it is unclear how effective its capabilities are.

, with hull number 101, has appeared online. The images provide a highly detailed top-down look at the weaponry, defenses and other features of China's most modern and capable surface combatant. At least two Type 055 cruisers are reportedly being deployed to take part in a series of exercises targeting Taiwan in response to a recent visit to the island by the U.S. Speaker of the House. Nancy Pelosi, where their capabilities can be fully displayed.
The image in question appears to be a screenshot of a segment that aired on Chinese-language television and was later posted online via Weibo, the country's microblogging site. The bottom third of all shots include the years "1927" and "2022". That's a strong indication that it was part of a broadcast around August 1 this year, commemorating this year's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Day, also known as Army Day. The establishment of the People's Liberation Army of China can be traced back to the Nanchang Rebellion that occurred on August 1, 1927.
Impounded, but it is possible to see the ship off the dock in its home port of Qingdao, in Shandong province in northeastern China. Regardless, they have a very clear look at various key elements of the ship, the first Type 055 to enter service in 2020. Since then, at least six more such ships, including some notable (silent) design features, has been built. Many more in various states of construction. Previous reports in the Chinese media have indicated that a total of at least 16 ships are expected to join the PLA Navy's combat fleet.
The US military and others classify the Type 055 design as the Type 055 design, also known in the West as

In terms of overall length and displacement, the Type 055 is also larger than the Navy's 10 Ticonderoga-class cruisers at 567 feet long and 752 tons displacement.

Class cruiser (122 tiles). It is also superior to the missile launch capabilities currently found on the U.S. Navy's Zumwalt-class stealth destroyers. (unit 80), which is generally larger than China's Type 055.
The Type 055 VLS design is also used on the PLAN's Type 052D destroyers and differs significantly from the Mk 41 and Mk 57 systems on contemporary US Navy ships.

The batteries used in China's "universal" systems are larger than those used by their American counterparts, a byproduct of their ability to have both hot and cold launch missiles. Hot launch missiles are located where the main rocket booster ignites while it is still in the launcher, while cold launch missiles are fired in several ways, usually using a compressed gas generator before the booster ignites.
It's not entirely clear how the heat-launched missile is fired, but it appears to be loaded into a cell inside the arm that contains the flame when fired. This avoids the need for some sort of dedicated channel to eject the fire from the missile - something that doesn't seem to be there when looking at the top-down footage
– As in the US made Mk 41 and Mk 57 arrays. Perhaps, this could allow a cold-launched missile designed for this battery to be designed
