Type 055 Cruisers
, which is number 101, has been released online. The images provide a particularly detailed look at the warship's weapons, defense systems and other features, China's most modern and sophisticated warship. At least two 055s are now reported to be participating in a series of exercises planned for Taiwan, leading to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's recent visit to the island, where their capabilities can be fully demonstrated.

The photos in question all appear to be clips from an episode aired on a Chinese-language television station, which were then posted via the country's microblogging site Weibo. In the bottom third of all the images are the years "1927" and "2022". This strongly suggests that part of the broadcast will be on or about August 1, which this year marks China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Day, also known simply as Army Day. The PLA traces its founding to the Nanchang Uprising on August 1, 1927.

It's not entirely clear how heat-discharge missiles work, but they are loaded into cells inside the arm that ignite when fired. This eliminates the need for some sort of dedicated channel to deliver fire from the missile - which can be seen to be absent when looking at top-down missiles.
